‘I read either a book or a magazine.’에서는 ‘book’과 ‘magazine’이 각각 단수로 사용되었기 때문에 ‘a’가 붙었어요. 반면에 ‘I read neither newspapers nor magazines.’에서는 ‘newspapers’와 ‘magazines’가 복수로 사용되었기 때문에 ‘s’가 붙었고, ‘a’는 사용되지 않았어요. 복수라면 ‘a’ (하나)라고 할 수 없기 때문이죠.
